Types of Dentures in New City
Not all dentures are the same. There are many different types of dentures. The kinds of dentures we offer are:
- Partial dentures
- Full dentures
- Implant dentures
- New You Dentures
Which one is best for you depends on many factors, including the number of teeth lost and your cosmetic and functional goals.
Partial dentures are used when you’ve only lost a few teeth in one of your arches.
Partial dentures have a base that looks like gum tissue, and one or more replacement teeth held by the base. The partial denture base also has structures that help secure it in the mouth. This may include just a wide flat plate that fits over the palate to create suction as well as hooks, clasps, or protrusions that go around neighboring teeth.
Partial dentures rest on your gums, so they don’t allow for the full force of biting and chewing. In fact, many people remove partial dentures for eating. If you lose additional teeth after getting your partial denture, you can often have teeth added.
Sometimes, partial dentures can be bonded to your natural teeth or secured by dental implants. These are normally described as dental bridges or fixed partial dentures.
Full dentures are designed to replace all the teeth in an arch of teeth. You can have dentures to replace either all the upper teeth or all the lower teeth or both.
Full dentures can look good and help you to eat, but they are limited in their function if they’re not secured in the mouth.
Traditionally, full dentures just sit on top of your gum tissue. They’re mostly held in place by suction created between the denture and your gum tissue. This isn’t very strong, and that’s why dentures often come out.
Because dentures just rest on your gums, they also significantly reduce the chewing force you can muster. They are better than nothing, but they are not as good as natural teeth.
Implant dentures are full dentures secured using dental implants. This allows you to replace all your teeth and achieve a bite that is very close to what you had with your natural teeth. How close your bite will be depends on how your implant dentures are designed.
Implant dentures can be designed to be simply retained by dental implants. This means that your implants will be held in place by implants, but little of the biting force will be directed to the bones. Most will still rest on the gums. These improve your bite strength a little, and improve the experience of wearing dentures a lot.
Implant dentures can also be designed to be supported by dental implants. In this design, most of the bite force is directed through the denture, into the implants and into the bone. These implant dentures give you a bite very similar to your natural teeth.
New You Dentures
What if dentures didn’t just replace your teeth–what if they could rejuvenate your appearance? Most dentures make their wearers look older, but New You Dentures can actually turn back the clock.
Tooth wear and loss contributes to many signs of facial aging, such as:
- Nasolabial folds (parenthesis lines)
- Perioral wrinkles (lipstick lines)
- Marionette lines
- Turkey neck
Most dentures don’t address these problems. Some provide limited improvement while many dentures actually make the problem worse.
New You Dentures are designed using the latest techniques, including neuromuscular dentistry, which allows your denture dentist to restore your face to its natural, youthful dimensions. By doing this, they can reduce the appearance of many signs of facial aging, it’s like getting a facelift without the surgery.
New You Dentures are made using the best cosmetic dentistry techniques available. The teeth are made of a ceramic material that is very similar to porcelain veneers, and the denture base is crafted with high-density PMMA that makes it both durable and resistant to staining and odors. The base is also designed using the best techniques for emulating the appearance of natural gums.
And because New You Dentures are designed to support a healthy bite, they can be more comfortable to wear, and can help you avoid TMJ and sleep apnea, both common consequences of denture wear and aging. When paired with dental implants, New You Dentures give you the closest thing to your natural bite that modern dentistry can achieve.
